This government discriminates against Ewes – Bridget Otoo backs Edem

Ghanaian broadcaster Bridget Otoo has backed an earlier statement made by Rapper Edem addressing issues of discrimination against Ewes.

According to Edem’s view, Ewes are treated unfairly in Ghana, a phenomenon he said must be nipped in the bud before it deteriorates.

This view has sparked an all-new conversation about Ewes and how some of them are targeted and tagged as Togolese at the least opportunity.

One of these people who believe the current government has not treated Ewes rightly and discriminated against them is former TV3 presenter Bridget Otoo.

Bridget Otoo has bemoaned the hate, tribal superiority and ethnocentrism which have become prevalent in Ghana. She blamed the citizens and more especially the current government for discriminating against people who are predominantly from the Volta Region.

She wrote: Ewes aren’t just saying it cos they enjoy it, it’s because we constantly discriminate against them! We do!!! This government doesn’t shy away from it…. They embrace the violence against Ewes!!! What crime has Domelovo committed?

This perception of Ewes being treated with disdain in Ghana has been worsened by recent events where Auditor-General Mr Daniel Yao Domelevo is being tagged as Togolese by the Audit Service Board.

Like-minded Ghanaians and the Ewes believe the Akufo-Addo government needs to be blamed for maligning Ewes, relegating them to the background and treating them poorly.
