The President has been strong in fighting corruption – Ken Ofori-Atta-Atta defends Akufo-Addo-Addo

Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta-Atta has come to the defence of President Akufo-Addo with the assertion that corruption has not been allowed to fester under his watch.

According to him, the President has remained strong in his resolve at purging the public sector of chronic corrupt acts and related acts.

Appearing before Parliament’s Appointment Committee today, Ken Ofori-Atta -Atta said he believes President Akufo-Addo has fought corruption and has eagerly protected the public purse.

“The President [Nana Akufo-Addo] has been strong in fighting corruption. His instruction has led to increases in our allocations to all governance institutions, and they have testified to that. We have also been firm in protecting the public purse.” 

“For the past four years, we have together embarked on a journey in which we said we had two fishes and five loaves of bread, but the economy has grown.  Social protection has increased for the vulnerable in our society and the conditions of people I believe have been made better,” he said.

Meanwhile, critics if the Akufo-Addo-Addo-led government believes he has failed to fight corruption in many aspect of his governance and the retiring of former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo and resignation of OSP Martin Amidu are the case studies.
