Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has resigned as a member of Parliament’s Appointment Committee.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament dated March 30, 2021, the North Tongu Member of Parliament on the ticket of the NDC said he discontinues to be a member of the committee.
According to him, his decision to cease to be a member of the Parliament’s Appointment Committee is personal and based on principle and it has come after “careful reflection and thoughtful consideration”.
Samuel Okudzeto added that his resignation from such a critical committee, a committee that ensures that government appointees are scrutinized and perused, is with immediate effect.

Our sources tell us that Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was disappointed after Ken Ofori Atta was passed yesterday as Finance Minister especially when the minority caucus has agreed to ensure that he was not approved.
The passing and approval of some Ministers by parliament has created disaffection among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who believe their parliamentarians are in bed with the governing party.
It is projected that several NDC MPs will resign as members of key committees in Parliament in the coming days if government appointees are continued to be passed en masse.
